I keep getting this IE window that opens with "aol about:blank" on my computer?

Its just a blank screen that i cant click out of (not right away) generally it will close on its own, but mostly if i click out of it i get a "end program, send error report" series of messages.

Its seriously killing my IE abilities. It pops up ALL THE TIME (iam LAN connected) and slows my computer down almost completely.

Does anyone know what this is, or how the hell to get rid of it? If tried nixing it with spywear finders, anti virus programs... ive done everything i can think of and cant seem to get rid of it.

sounds like a data miner/spyware issue....possibly a trojan/virus. buy a quality program like like symantec (norton antivirus). Their website will also help you figure out what is going on with your computer.

Windows also has a free download, windows defender that help eliminate these issues.

The trio I run, that I found works the best is: Norton (antivirus only!), Windows defender, and Adaware/Adwatch (lavasoft). These three work well together. I've had no problems in the past two years of using them together, make sure you keep them updated though
Bad News,

You have the "About.Blank" virus.

Go to www.spybot.com and download the

"SpyBot Search %26amp; Destroy" program. (It's free)

Install it, then get all of the available updates.

Power down your computer, unplug your Internet or

network connection and power the machine back on.

While it's starting up, contunually press the "F8" key until you get a boot menu.

Use your arrow keys to select the "Boot in Safe Mode" option

(NOT with network support)

Once it has started in safe mode, run SpyBot Search %26amp; Destroy and see what you get.

Good Luck!
If you are using Win XP please install SP2 (Service Pack2) or instaed if you are using Win 2K please install SP4. This will block the popups completely.

Also its always better to use other browsers like Avant or Mozilla, which are far better and userfriendly.
Switch to using Mozilla Firefox - it is a much friendlier browser than IE.
