How can i save web pages to work offline with IE?

I remember this feature in the last verion of IE, and i did used it once by ading it to my favorites and checking the "make anavainable off-line" box. Though, since I updated to the newest IE I dont see that box anymore. does anyone know how I can save a website to work offline in the new verison of IE (Internet Explorer 7)

Go to File %26gt;%26gt;Save Page as... %26gt;%26gt; then type a name in for the webpage document. (this willwork ONLY If you are using WIN XP) if using vista, it saves it as a format ONLY compatible for vista.
Saving individual web pages to work offline is easy enough: File | SaveAs then select Webpage Complete in the pop-up selector. There are software to rip whole sites, but I do not think that feature is still included in IE itself.

Evaluations on buying welders, (ie) TIG?

Looking for a non biased, kind of like a Consumer Reports / testing on welders (ie) TIG.

I have not seen any, As a small business owner I would like to know what would be the best buy, when I would be spending about $3000.00 for a welder.

I want to weld say 1/4 thick +/- not a lot of bells %26amp; whistles.

I have looked at INFO on welders, just about like making a evaluation for buying a truck,car. Which I did use the Consumer Reports in 2000 for my pickup. which I found helpful.

I have not seen non biased reports on welding or machine tools why is that.

Can anyone recommend any reports on the best makes, models etc.

Ive owned some 15-20 year old miller welders they are a good brand superior over anything else, Hobart is next best though if you get a 300 amp or so you will be able to plow right through 1/4 mild steel no problem.
I do not know of any reports on welders that are not biased...what I would do is take into consideration the thoughts of others...

For what you are looking for, a Miller Maxstar would be an excellent choice and at about $2000 well within your budget. You can also look at the invertec from Lincoln Electric, again around $2000. Both have lift arc technology which ramps the voltage when you start welding for a "scratch start" type of system without a lot of the contamination concerns...also, the units are very lightweight...about 9 pounds for the welder itself for the 110 volt unit...I have run the 110 and the 220 and absolutely love them...in fact, I intend to get one for the house this year.

I do not recommend going with other units because in my experience, I do not feel that they hold up as well for the long haul. I should add that I was trained as an inspector by the Hobart Welding Institute in Troy OH, and that Hobart and Miller are all owned by ITW and that my endorsement of Miller has no link to my being educated there. I simply am very satisfied with their product.

Firefox is a lot safer. Most malware/viruses are designed for Internet Explorer. You can get it at:

You can add it to your computer and keep Internet Explorer. Firefox will import your IE bookmarks etc. It will ask you if you want to do that the first time you run it.

I upgraded to IE 7 which downgraded HP DIrector. Now I can not scan. The printer works and trhid party scanning software works, but Hp Director does not function. Tried to go back to IE 6, Tried to upgrade to Hp Solution Center. Treid to uninstall and reinstall the software. All steps have gone backwards. Has anyone experienced this problem and resolved it. Animated gif in XP - IE 6 - SP2 slower?

Ive made a small animated gif (3.86kb) image using two animating software programs.

The image has 7 frames.

each frame display time is 2/100th second

This should render very fast, just a quick flash.

But in my browser window IE the gif is rather uneffected by the frame rate 2/100th sec.

Is this a bit depth issue ?? or something else.

my first pregnancy symptoms started at about five or six weeks (so a few weeks after my missed period). Yes I managed to have morning sickness on and off all day, but usually only at meal times, there were a few days where i felt sick around midnight, but that may have been because i was doing to much and didnt realise. I suspected i was pregnant around the 3rd week, i then had flu like symptoms for the next 3 weeks, plus nausea but my doctor only confirmed it once i supposedly reached week 7, i then had an ultra sound (because i was having pains and bleeds.) where they confirmed it was only around 7 weeks. I no longer have morning sickness, just feel very tired during the day alot, according to the doctor im now only 9 weeks. As far as my suspicions go, i beleive i am further along, as the average person doesnt lose their morning sickness until about week 10 or 11....
I had a constant nauseous feeling from 3 pm until I went to bed. I rarely threw up, but felt that sick every day until about 14 weeks.

I did the home test at 4 weeks or so and I felt the symptoms pretty much right away (the nausea and yucky feeling in my stomach).

That was my only symptom. I had a great pregnancy, which I am so grateful for.

I just had a baby girl 4 weeks ago. My first and the funny thing is I swear I knew I was pregnant not long after it happened. I thought I was, about a week after conception. I just felt something not symptoms just a feeling. Everyone said it was too soon for me to know. It wasnt a planned pregnancy. I was on birth control. My hubby and I was at the gas station and he was buying beer and asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said I dont think I should. We'll the test said I was. At about 4 weeks I was so tired. How can I fix my favicons in IE and FireFox?

In IE, favicons appear and disappear at will (only to quickly be replaced with the blue 'e'). In Firefox, they are better, but if you get an update they revert back to the generic blank document favicon until you visit your bookmarked site again. I really liked that feature and I incorporate favicons in my web sites. It just seems like both IE and FireFox (haven't tried any other browsers) are a bit cloogy when it comes to this feature. Does anyone know of a fix or patch?

An example , I was in my e-mail in-box %26amp; decided to check my bids on ebay. So I entered the ebay site into the web search bar at the top of the page and clicked search. A blank page comes up with a new tab showing connecting. At the same time the cursor turns into what appears to be a very miniature Internet Explorer page with a smaller yellow box inset at the bottom right of the IE page. The smaller yellow box that's inside the miniature IE box has a red bar across the top and bottom of it and is marked with a large red X. The cursor only changes to this for a few seconds..hardly long enough to see what it is. It moves when I move the mouse. The blank page continues to say connecting but it never comes up. Your computer has been hijacked. While it may look like it is doing nothing, while that computer is connected to the Internet, it is up to a lot.

You have Spyware or viruses, at least these are the most likely culprits.

You may need to take the computer to a competent technician and have it repaired.

You can try these steps on your own.

Click on "Start"

Click on "Run"

type in "msconfig". DO NOT USE THE QUOTES

Press the ENTER key on the Keyboard

A box will pop up

Look for the tab along the top of the box that is labeled "Startup"

Click on this tab and a box will become visible

In the lower right corner of this box, right above the "help" button is a button called "Disable All".

Click on the "Disable All Button"

Click on the Boot.ini tab.

Select Safe mode and also select "network".

Click on the "Apply" Button

Click on the "OK" Button

When the computer asks to be allowed to reboot, tell it OK.

The computer will boot into safe mode but you will still be able to get on the Internet.

Run Spybot and update it. Download all the updates and wait for spybot to shut down and restart.

When spybot restarts and gives you the interface, click on the immunize button to the left. If is tells you to immunize, click on the green plus sign beside the word "immunize". After it immunizes, click on the "Search %26amp; Destroy" button in the column on the left. Next, click on the "check for problems" button and start the scan.

When the scan finishes, choose the "Fix Selected Problems" and wait for it to finish.

What this does is:

The scan cleans out a large amount of the common spyware, and is a good first strike. Always scan in safe mode.

Immunize sets up Internet Explorer to block known spyware sites from gaining access to your computer. Even if you go to a website that wants to load spyware, your computer will refuse the connection, helping to keep it clean.

Unlike some of the posts here say, Spybot gets along with all antivirus software. Leave it on your system and run it once a week. Be sure to immunize each time.

So much for a first strike, now on to the heavy hitters: Viruses.

Say What? Huh? Quit confusing me....
Sounds like you got a spyware anti-blocker. Basically a spyware blocker is supposed to block spyware from getting onto your computer. This does the reverse by blocking normal stuff... most annoying.

Get yourself a copy of Mozilla Firefox (an alternate browser program). Use that to download Ad Aware or Spybot Search %26amp; Destroy (both are excellent spyware removers). Update whichever one you installed and have it scan your system. Follow the prompts and let it remove all suspicious files. Once it is done, try your internet explorer again. If it happens again, just use the Firefox as your main browser. It will actually work better!

It's an option you choose when you first use your computer or when windows is freshly installed. The first time you use a search bar it will ask you if you want it to remember your searches.
One way to get rid of that history is to go to Internet Options (in IE 6 or 7) and delete the history (you will see a " Browsing History" section). Then go to "Settings" and type a zero (0) in days to keep history. That will help control the history stored by the browser.

When IE can't display page, always try to get onto different sites. Assuming that you email this fm the same pc when you got your error page. If so you should be able to get other sites. If other sites work then the 1st site error is probably down and you can try later.

After Unlocking the Toolbar, you have the Little Punch Bar Lines; Move your cursor there; the cursor changes so that there is an arrow going two ways, then left mouse click down at that time, and the middle of the two arrows change to a double upright bar. then drag trhe File-Edit-View to where you want and release, then lock where you want to.

Because the table with the links and picture is so big, and there are only two rows, thus each row takes up half the page. therefore the second row(with the links) is halfway down the page. Try defining the first rows height like:

I can see a few things - When viewing the source of the entire page.. You don't have a document type heading so some browsers will fail to render the page properly. What i'm describing looks like this and goes before the %26lt;html%26gt; tag:

hey.. i recommend the use of Mozilla Firefox found @ Mozilla.com. Your Internet Explorer browser is most likely infected with Spyware/Adware/Malware. Firefox has extensions to prevent this. If Firefox can connect to other sties just fine then the error you're getting is coming from the Myspace servers and it's just coincidence. An error like that cannot be related to the browser's rendering of the page. If it persists and is happening constantly then something may be wrong, but that would be very strange. Change settings in the firewall so that FFox also gets permission

Else: get an easier to handle firewall (e. g. zone alarm free )

install that and after that deactivate XP鈥瞫 own firewall.

Now start Your browsers and other internet programs.

Zone Alarm will prompt You for every new program that wants to go to Internet. Allow Firefox.exe, Your e-mail program etc.

If You use another firewall then XP's own? It is also a wrong firewall setting that prevents Firefox to go on-line.
I have an anti-virus program enabled with a firewall, and I experienced the same problem when I first got Firefox. Have you gotten any new anti-virus software recently? If so, modify its allowed programs in its firewall settings to allow Firefox to connect to the internet. Every time Firefox undergoes a major update (for example, v. 1.5 to 2.0) you will have to re-allow Firefox. That is what I have been doing, and I have no problems since.

If you have Norton, this can be achieved by opening the Norton Protection Center, selecting the Norton Internet Security tab, and then selecting Settings, Firewall, and Configure. Follow on-screen instructions on how to configure your firewall to allow programs to access the internet. Hope this helps!

Alright. I have Firefox that I use almost religiously. But when I do use IE 7, I have a lot of trouble loading images on a page. (For example, I tried bringing up a page the other day loading visualizations for Media Player -- a lot of red X's.) My cache was cleaned, and I still had problems. I thought that I might not have enough space for my temporary internet files, but I checked and I have allowed 1000 MB for that. I also have the required plug-ins like Adobe Macromedia Flash and others. Any help?

The awards section and news scroller font are the only thing that I can even see that look any bit different. Are you using the newest version of Firefox.

The images on the awards section didn't show up...and I really don't think many people will notice....I had to look at the page for like a minute or 2 just to find those differences.

Did you try safari and opera browsers..they probably make it look different as well...you just have to decide what browser you want to design for....or add code to check what brower it is..and change what code each brower runs...to get it to look better.

It looks pretty ok to me (I am using Firefox in Ubuntu). Are you referring to the flash covering the dropdown menu problem?

Anyway, did the HTML and CSS code generated by your PHP files follow the W3C standard? Firefox is stricter with the interpretation of HTML tags, i.e. less forgiving on things such as missing closing tags, than IE. You may wish to use applications like HTML Tidy to clean up your code.

Different browsers also can render the same layout differently depending on what elements are given what priorities or what syntax rules. Most open-source browsers uses similar rendering engines so the web pages are displayed in similar fashion. My advice to you is code your HTML for a browser other than IE first (some say opera or safari but firefox is good enough). Then view them in IE.

Remember, Microsoft doesn't own the web :p

Adobe Shockwave downloaded an update on my computer and ever since IE and Firefox have been unable to connect. The internet connection itself is fine because AIM still works on my computer along with other programs that connect to the internet just my browsers no longer connect. To do System Restore:

a. Click on Start

b. Click on All Programs

h. Click on Next

i. Try to choose a date last week or days ago that you are not having this problem.

Hm... this is interesting... I'm assuming you've tried multiple sites so here's my take...

If you think Shockwave is the issue then try to uninstall it and see if that solves your problem. Firewalls or adblocker software can sometimes change themselves, so double check just in case to make sure you're allowing your browsers to access the internet. Lastly, I'd try to get another copy of the browsers and try a reinstall that way.
MAybe the installation changed your internet access settings, especially the DNS server. That one is needed to translate the url you type in, into the IP in the HTTP protocol. That would explain why the messengers still work, they dont need the DNS server. The adress of your DNS server is usually your router or its left empty if you connect via dial-up or smth.
As the others said your answer is 'system restore,' but I'll tell you how to do this in case you are a novice.

Take your cursor to the 'Start' tab at the bottom left corner of your screen, if you don't see it now, it will come up when you take your cursor there. Click on 'Start', then click on 'all programs', then click on 'accessories', then click on 'system restore.' Once there follow the prompts to return your computer to a date prior to you installing Shockwave. This will fix your problem in less than five minutes. You can e-mail me if you have any further problems by clicking on my image. I've fixed your exact same problem a few time. Good luck!

Select the "Processes" tab.

Click on User, so it sorts that way.

Find all of the Adobe related processes that are running, and terminate them. No harm done. You do not need them.

Then try connecting again.

If that doesn't work, check your browser add ins. Disable Adobe, and see if that does the trick. In fact, you might try that first.

Last, I would try a system restore (as above). But that will return you to preinstallation of the update. That is just my personal opinion, and not necessarily the best solution.

Myself, I would do what I suggested, and use system restore last.

you probably won't get that.

If you can ping a IP addres and not name, your DNS is out.

Try to repair your connection using repair

Internet Explorer doesn't tell you you have Yahoo email. It merely logs you onto the internet, and from there you log into Yahoo. This is most likely a glitch in Yahoo Beta. It does have all kinds of quirky things going on. I tried it briefly for one day and junked it. It isn't worth the hassle.

I have recently switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox. Do I keep IE the way it is?

I still have that little blue IE icon at the bottom of my PC. I clicked on and found that all was saved on Internet Explorer ie; buttons, settings, etc. I really like Firefox and am very impressed with the way my PC works with Mozilla. Yet, if anything should happen, I still have IE to fall back on and all my settings and stuff are still there. My question is, If I erase all of my IE stuff, would it make my computer even faster and run even smoother if I do this? I would rather not, but I would like to get the most out of my PC that I can. What do you think?

Contrary to popular belief, having information in one inactive program doesn't slow down the active programs. You can keep whatever you want in IE, it won't slow your machine down. I have 4 separate browsers on my PC box (web designer, I have to test) and my machine is still just as fast as when there was only IE.

The only reason I'd consider getting rid of that stuff is if you were running out of disk space on your computer, in which case I'd consider something else to get rid of as, at most, you'd only get a few MBs out of deleting the extras from IE.

Umm... You can't remove Internet Explorer even if you wanted to. Keep your IE the way it is.
you can disable IE from the control panel %26gt; add remove programs%26gt; in the left pane choose add/ remove windows components. Uncheck internet explorer.

This will only disable it partially, since it's needed for windows updates. If you have probs with updates you may need to re-enable it.
I use firefox also and think its beta then IE. I have kept IE in case another app needs access to it and kept all my bookmarks and settings, this is fine, deleting the settings etc wont effect the speed of firefox and u can also transport your bookmarks from IE to firefox when u first launch firefox.

HELP!!! Red boxes in IE, Firefox, & Opera where advertisments should be!?

I know this question has been asked several times before, but I have tried all that people have suggested and still have a problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE 7, installed Firefox and Opera and I still have red boxes where advertisements should be. Can someone please tell me why I still keep receiving this error and if I'm doing something wrong. Why can't I use Firefox or IE when Opera and Netscape work fine?

I can download e-mail and traceroute as normal. The only problem is that I can't access the web from Firefox or IE.

I am on a DSL line and I can't even access the DSL modem's settings in IE 7.0.6001.18000 or the just-updated Firefox 2.0.0.13. I was able to access those settings in Opera 9.24, but I didn't seen anything about a proxy server, and Netscape 8 is hanging.

I deleted a dial-up account I don't use shortly before this happened, which is probably what caused this. Please help! I'm on Vista home basic. Thanks in advance.

Odds are that something on your machine is causing your problem. Start at the top of this list. Install the products one at a time. If you wish to stop other processes from running try this.

Click on start, run, type the word (msconfig)

and click OK,a screen will appear,

Your windows computer uses IE to display your desktop. Thats why you see the process. Kill that process and you will find you no longer have any icons, or anything else, on your desktop.
What other programs do you have running, if any do they use IE as part of their process? Goto task manager and close the the IE instances down, if they pop back up again they are being called by another application, or something using them has set them to restart upon being closed.

Regradless of this I would suggest you download HIJACKTHIS available free from many sites, run it and then post the log on a website where pro's can examine it. Use this query in a search engine to find places to post: " Post your hijack this logs "

Also it might be wise to run Rootkit Revealer (free from Sysinternals) as well and post its log too at the same time as both logs together will provide the person checking them with a lot of information.

NOTE: Ensure you have all visible programs running shutdown, all browsers, chat programs, messegers, etc. Look down by your clock and close all unneeded apps there as well. To get the best effect, unplug your pc from the net and also shutdown AV, antispyware and firewall too before you run them. The less there is open, the less irrelevant info will be logged by both programs.

That process is explorer .exe not iexplore which the asker is referring to.
I just checked and I only have Explore.exe, not Iexplore. I think you may have malware on your pc.

You may need to switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.

Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it. All the following programs are free for home use;

don't think ie explorer is internet explorer, when I run IE it runs as iexplorer.exe not ie explorer. explorer is necessary as it runs the desktop.

Try using hijackthis you can download it from http://hijackthis.de when you run it it gives a textfile that you can paste in to the site. This will tell you what malicious processes you have (if any) and indicate what you should disable.

Also go through add/remove programs and remove anything you don't use or recognise

Unfortunately most plug in software does not automatically work with firefox. You must set it up as a plug in. Also for reference the file formats are WMA and WMV and the plugin for firefox is called WMP.
