How do I keep IE users from having to enable javascript?

Trying to implement a chart onto a page. When tested in IE javascript needs to be enabled. I'm getting the code from: http://www.explainingmortgages.com/rates...

When i go to there site javascript does not have to be enabled and the chart is still visible. Why is that and is there a work around?

How do I keep IE users from having to enable javascript?internet explorer

The code example on that page is javascript and the user has to have javascript enabled to run the javascript. It's as simple as that.

The website itself (http://www.explainingmortgages.com/rates... does not contain any javascript and they probably use server side scripting to display the chart. Because they only supply you with a javascript option, your users must have javascript enabled.

Why Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) stop working after some days?

Have you tried Firefox? It is far better and more stable than IE7.

Get it at: http://www.getfirefox.com/

Why Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) stop working after some days?microsoft word internet explorer

Internet Explorer really isn't the best browser that you can use. The crappy thing about it is that Microsoft has decided to have it read code different from the standard for HTML, so sometimes it will display things differently on the page than it should. If I were you I would just switch to Mozilla Firefox. It is much better plus there are tons of cool extensions that you can download for it that make your internet life easier.
It's buggy and not worth using.

Go back to IE 6.
Firefox is compatible with all operating systems.

if you try to use IE7 on a mac, the webpage will look ugly and scrambled. Microsoft doesn't make high quality products free.

the only microsoft Product i use is windows xp. everything else is a non-microsoft product.
Yes that's true that IE7 stops working on 2 occasions.

1- When u r downloading

2- When Pop-up blockers kill the Pop up window.

The reason is the bug on IE7 close event. When you close IE7 , it crushes on the spot. Similarly, it happens when you try to download. AT the time of downloading, IE7 creates its new instance for redirecting and transfers its control to either Dialog Box (having run, save options) or Any downloading utility. At the same moment, IE7 fires the close event to kill the new created instance. Hence, it crushes . But so far Microsoft hasn't released ANY patch to Fix this bug.
You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

Import saved passwords from IE to Firefox and visa versa?

Is there a way to import saved user names and passwords from IE to Firefox and visa versa? Cuz that would make it much easier rather than retyping all of them?

Thanks!

Import saved passwords from IE to Firefox and visa versa?internet explorer 6

Heaven, forbid!

Passwords are meant for security.

You'll have to come up with a better way of managing your user-names and passwords than passing them around among your browsers. (You can't do it anyway.)

"Easier" and security are mutually exclusive. They don't relate to each other.

I just upgraded my computer. It runs XP Home Edition and IE 7 was installed. I get an error page every time, no matter what link or address I use to try to get there. Help!

It's just a coincidence. A lot of us are having trouble accessing our Yahoo mail right now. Wait a little while longer.

Edit: It seems to be working again. You might need to log out from the main Yahoo page and then try to log in again.

Do you have some kind of internet security suite installed with some kind of adblocking? Many of those will stop .gif animation.
you should visit the ZoneAlarm support section and ask.
Go into ie settings and allow html. Also, they have to be jpeg or gif, so "save as" with those extensions.

Slow Type Speed in IE or Firefox Address Bar?

My Web page loads with decent speed but when I type the URL in address bar, each alphabet appears long after typing in the address bar. I have to wait for few seconds to see the letter I type on the address bar. I am using IE version 6 and XP SP1. I tried installing Firefox but that also showed same problem. It only works in IE! HTML question?

I don't know if you're still working on this, but it looked the same to me between Firefox and IE7. What exactly are you trying to accomplish.

It only works in IE! HTML question?microsoft outlook internet explorer

Iwould start again, your html is terrible. You are making no attempt to comply with ww3 xhtml standards, and are still using tables to create layout, I see nothing to create a bottom border for the orange bar, which actually comes across as more yellow, and the page appears identical in Firefox and IE6, apart from changing the element sizes..

"Yahoo! - TAGA LIPA ARE!" IE title bar?

This is how my title bar looks like... I only noticed this yesterday (1 day from now) but I don't know what made it become this way... I thought it's a virus or something but I scanned my computer and it's still there. I even upgraded my IE6 to IE7 but it stayed the same. Every site I visit there is this phrase 'TAGA LIPA ARE!' that appears in the IE title bar. Mozilla is not like that... Help! Is this a virus or some trick to retrieve my personal internet information??

"Yahoo! - TAGA LIPA ARE!" IE title bar?windows vista

i found this in a forum. the "Taga lipa Are" is a modification of the "Hacked by Godzilla" malware.

the post as follows:

--------------------------------------...

Hello im Dragantra the original creator of TAGA LIPA ARE! virus...Its a virus but it gives no harm to your computer. anyway...to delete the virus you need to disable the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" in your Windows Explorer folder options (TOOLS %26gt; FOLDER OPTIONS %26gt; VIEW). Search the file name FS6519.dll.vbs (THE VIRUS) in your hard drive or just to make sure in your My Computer then delete the file. Note: On searching make sure you activated "Search Hidden Files and Folders" on more advance options. If one of "FS6519.dll.vbs" failed to delete run the Task Manager by holding CTRL+ALT+DELETE then on the process area find "WSCRIPT" then end this process, you can now delete the file "FS6519.dll.vbs". Then to get rid of the word "TAGA LIPA ARE!" on your internet Explorer go to your windows registry (START %26gt; RUN - then type regedit)Search the word "TAGA LIPA ARE!" and "FS6519" in the following registry location

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOT\...

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\... EXPLORER\MAIN\Window Title"

right click and delete, never try to rename the window title just delete it.. Your done.!

Note: For best result i recommend to do it in Safe Mode

SORRY FOR INCONVINIENCE.

"Yahoo! - TAGA LIPA ARE!" IE title bar?windows defender internet explorer

you have spyware

go to majorgeeks.com

download a free spyware program
Try this one... its 100% effective

My Computer -%26gt; Tools Menu -%26gt; Folder Options -%26gt; View Tab:

Select: Show hidden Files and Folders

Uncheck: Hide Extensions for known file type and Hide Protected operating system (Set this back to the original settings after dealing with the problem)

Click Yes Then OK.

You will see an autorun.inf and FS6519.dll.vbs in all your harddrives. Delete ALL of them. (you'll see this in your USB HDD/Flash drives as well)

If it says that something is using the program. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to processes, end ALL wscript.exe

Then go to run type regedit and then press ok, go to Edit -%26gt; Find and type FS6519.dll.vbs.

Edit the found registry by selecting the name, ryt click and modify, remove the last two strings which is wscript.exe and FS6519.dll.vbs and click OK.

If finished, press F3 and it will search again for another, just do the same thing until nothing is found in your registry.

If you are done with the FS6519.dll.vbs, its time for the TAGA LIPA ARE! be edited in your IE,

type Taga Lipa Are on the search again then it will show up the IE title ... delete it
Some stupid person intentionally edited the IE folder in the registry by adding the string "Window Title" - Taga Lipa Are!. To remove it, follow the steps below:

1. Click start

2. Run "regedit"

3. Click edit

4. Click find, then type "Taga Lipa Are!", then execute.

Computer will search the phrase "Taga Lipa Are! in the registry. When you found it, delete the whole string," Window Title- Taga Lipa Are!". Done. Try opening your browser and it will return to the orginial title "Windows Internet Explorer".

Good Luck.
Its in filipino language(Phillippines)

it means, Taga(from) Lipa(City in batangas)

so it basically means From Lipa of batangas

Are you using XP? And do you use "System Restore"? If you are then you can just restore windows from a date where IE used to work.

Otherwise... just download another browser...

like Firefox or Safari
You have corrupted files with I.E. that could have resulted from Spyware/Adware.

Super Anti-spyware does have a repair feature of I.E. that might work in your case.

After you download it - update it - then double click on the desktop icon - click the 'preference' tab - 'repair' tab - run all the repairs for I.E. My guess it is the winsock file.

Issue with javascript and IE vs FIREFOX using testfields.value?

i have 2 input fields as follows:

%26lt;INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="anskey" VALUE="ACDB" id="anskey"%26gt;

%26lt;INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="qnum" VALUE="1" id="qnum"%26gt;

NOTE that anskey is an array or chars.

i need to get the value of anskey[qnum-1] wich should be 'A'

in my javascript code i have the following:

var anskey = document.getElementById('anskey');

var qnum = document.getElementById('qnum');

if (anskey %26amp;%26amp; qnum %26amp;%26amp; uans != anskey.value[qnum.value-1])

alert('Your Answer (' + uans + ') was incorrect. You should have selected (' + anskey.value[qnum.value-1] + ')');

the refference to anskey.value[qnum.value-1] retuns 'A' in an alert on FIREFOX

in IE i get 'UNDEFINED'

if i just show anskey.value and qnum.value i'm able to display both properly

from personal experience my friend the answer is no,this is because the windows genuine advantage tool stops i.e7 from being installed

allthough there are probally fixes or patches that can overcome this,i would strongly recommend against this as again from personal experience messing around with windows and system files can do all kinds of damage to your o/s

i found that, although at first nothing was affected after around 3 to 4 months hardware started playing up and i was getting more and more "windows has to end" screens

as another answer noted, mozzila firefox is a excellent alternative browser and is as good if not better than i.e7 and also has some excellent plug-ins,you can download it from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

although quite expensive,a genuine copy of windows xp can be a good long term investment, and enables you to get access to all the downloads such as i.e7,media player 11 and windows defender

instead of using windows xp why not upgrade now to vista,i have found a bargain copy on the web, allthough its a o.e.m copy its the same as any other version, but dosent have all the flashy packaging as other versions(http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/Sear... think its a real bargain at this price

I thoroughly, wholeheartedly reccomend that you use Firefox as an alternative to IE7 - it's free, so just download it. I use it and love it, and I've heard nothing but praise for it - which is quite the opposite of what I've heard about IE7.
why not just put monilla firefox on less spy were and virus as most come with ie
The answer my friend can be found at the link below:
You must have Windows XP Service Pack-2 (SP2) in order to install Internet Explorer 7.0. But still you will face a problem while installing this new Internet Explorer if your copy of Windows XP is not a genuine (non-pirated) one, since IE 7.0 installation requires genuine windows validation!!! So what to do??? Don鈥檛 worry鈥?There are some tricky steps through which you can install IE 7.0 even in your pirated copy of windows XP bypassing the genuine windows validation.

yep.. sorry but its only in BETA right now.. beta 3 to be exact... the full release will release at the same time Windows Vista will release which is in the 1st quarter of 2007 possibly in February... personally I'm using BETA 2 right now and I've noticed a few bugs like... if you try and ASK a question in here (Yahoo Answers) BETA 2 won't let you pick a category to ask your question which means... i have to use Firefox whenever i wanna ask a question here.... i would upgrade to BETA 3 but in order to do that i need to uninstall BETA 2 first which means that i will have to uninstall all the software that i installed after i installed BETA 2... which is a pain in the a.s.s... i still don't understand why Microsoft doesn't also put out an update for those who already have BETA 2 installed... maybe its out there and i just haven't found it... if anyone knows please leave a comment and a link to where i can download it... and don't leave a link to the BETA 3 update... i already know where to find that..lol...

The problem is that I noticed just now that the icons next to the links are wrong on the Links Toolbar, and when I visit the site the logo on the tab is also wrong. Just download it and re-install.
go into the device manager you can update them from there
Upgrade to IE7 if you haven't already, that will get you the latest and greatest updates and security fixes. IE7 can be downloaded from various places, simply google ie7 download.
IE is a software. A software does not have drivers. All you have to do is visit www.microsoft.com and either update the current IE version or Download and Install IE7.
Do you use a third party popup blocker? If so disable that and see if that is the culprit.

Otherwise you could try doing an IE repair, go to add/remove programs click on MS IE you will get an option to repair it

If that doesn't work then it would be best to uninstall then reinstall again

Check again. Might be you get right this time. At times there are cache-related issues with IE. So Refresh or load on a fresh IE browser
The issue comes down to how you set your widths and heights. IE and Firefox actually interpret sites differently. Everything except IE reads % values off of the whole screen. So if you have 1280 px in height, 100% = 1280px. IE does it different. If you create a subspace of say 800px, IE reads 100% as 800px. Firefox and the rest will still read 100% as 1280px. Its a small quirk that can be avoided by adding in straight up px values into your CSS section for everything and avoid using width and height in your html code if possible.

Using Yahoo mail and IE, images get edited out of my messages (some incoming, some outgoing/forwarde

Doesn't happen with all images and I can't narrow it down to a specific type. Sometimes they are replaced with blank squares (with frames the size of the original image) and a small red x button/symbol in the upper left corner. Sometimes the symbol is a tricolored logo instead of the red x. Sometimes the frame is shrunk to just larger than the red x box. This image suppression happens to both incomming mail (where I never get to see the real image) and to mail where I get the image okay but if I forward the message, the images are not in the forwarded text (may be replaced with blank frame or may just be dropped out completely leaving only the surrounding text) in my composing box or received by the receipient. Is the problem with Yahoo, IE or something specific to my situation. What filters/edits do I need to check/alter/kill to be able to receive and pass on ANY / ALL images and/or text?

What is 64 bit and 32 bit IE?

I just got Vista and I noticed that under programs I have a 32 bit IE and a 64 bit IE. What are they and what are the differences? Which one is the default? What happens if I use the other?

What is 64 bit and 32 bit IE?microsoft excel

I presume you have 64-bit windows?

All the time, your computer is stored pieces of data in the memory, putting it there until it needs to refer to it. Each piece of information has an address.

The number of digits in the address determines the maximum number of addresses you can have - and so, the maximum amount of memory. Back in the old days, 8-bit, then 16, 32-bit and finally 64-bit.

With the introduction of 64-bit, backward compatibility for 32-bit was maintained, but support for earlier, shorter addressing was dropped.

So, 64-bit internet explorer can browse 32-bit technology, but not older technology. For this reason, a "32-bit" explorer is included, which can't browse 64-bit, but is more backward compatible.

The same principle is true of 64-bit windows - if you have, say, a printer driver that is built on 8-bit referencing, it will not work with 64-bit windows.

So, the answer is, 64-bit IE is for the future, but unlikely to be of any particular advantage now. If you encounter a problem with backwards compatibility, load up 32-bit IE and try again.

More Firefox users than IE?

Is it just me, or it seems that everytime a question about browser is asked, most of the answerer recommends Firefox (Including me), and most of the answerer hailed firefox while booed IE,

More Firefox users than IE?microsoft office 2007

Firefox still has a very small market share overall. The reason why you see so many recommendations here for Firefox is that many of the people who would be attracted to Firefoxes' features are the same type of people that would answer questions on computer subjects.

Edit: Microsoft has put tabbing in as a feature of IE7.

Edit 2: To the original poster, that people are lazy is a suprise to you? Of course thats why most people use IE. There is also the fact that 80% of the people that own a computer are not capable of downloading and installing a new browser, nor do they care to.

Firefox remains a niche market, one that will not take over for IE. Until Linux comes out with a package that my mother can understand, it won't take over the home desktop. It doesn't matter what is better, look at the Mac, the Betamax, and all the other "better" products out there that lost to an inferior product.

I thought this was a question, not a debate. If you wanted to post a question "What is the better browser?" go ahead, but you asked if there were more Firefox users than IE, and the answer is no, and will remain no for the forseeable future.

More Firefox users than IE?windows media internet explorer

i have noticed a definate trend in firefox users..
Everyone I know uses Firefox. Why hasn't IE implemented tabbing??? I can't live without tabbing!! What do you love about Firefox?
Maybe its just general resentment of Microsoft? Browsers seem to be one of the few programs where there is a viable non-Microsoft alternative. We are still all stuck with MS Office and MS Outlook, so, its nice that there is at least some alternative to a Microsoft product.
yes, mostly people prefer mozilla firefox because of its additional features.
According to SpreadIE.com, Internet Explorer has around 600,000 users. At the time of this post, Firefox has 154,575,965 DOWNLOADS (not necessarily unique users). Firefox has been booming in use, and is crippling IE's control of the internet. I quite deeply believe Firefox is the hands-down winner here. And, person who was talking about IE7's tabbing: Yes, IE7 has tabs. No, they don't work well and they frequently crash IE7. Yes, Microsoft has to resort to copying Firefox because it has no good ideas ;)
yeah ie is more prone to viruses getting through than firefox. firefox also has more features than ie. for example... if u are downloading a movie on the internet with ie u have to wait until its then turn the off. for firefox you can stop downloading turn off the computer and then keep downloading from where u were last time. its much more convinient.
I try to suggest Firefox whenever I can. Safer and can be customized such much.

It doesn't show up in my Add/Remove programs list even if I select show updates, if I try to load IE 6 I get a message saying there are already programs waiting for a reboot (rebooting doesn't help) so it won't do that. If I try to load a newer version of 7 it says 7 is already loaded. How can I get rid of it?

Try this link:

If that doesn't help, you might have to resort to more drastic measures like an advanced search for IE7 (start %26gt; search) and delete any hidden files or folders that might have been left behind when you attempted to uninstall.

And if THAT doesn't work, you might have to go into the registry (run %26gt; regedit) and search for IE7 that way and delete.

In IE7 there are two ways to view the download progress. The first is by a little blue circular motion on the left side of a tab. When the site finishes downloading, the blue circle is replaced by the site's logo icon.

The other way is the green progress bar on the Status Bar, which is what I think you want. Click on Tools (located in the upper right on your screen), then Toolbars, then checkmark Status Bar.

.. in fact the communist manifesto is quite alluring. It has never been practiced purely.. but rather co-opted by the fascist element in that society, Stalin, Mao, North Korea, Cuba.. none of them ...truly communist but rather totalitarian states posing behind the word " communism" kind of like America hides behind the word " democracy" another concept that has never truly seen the light of day..

Why are is my IE/FireFox oversized?

Ok I'm having some crazy monitor problems. Basically IE and FireFox are both oversized when I'm on the net. Almost all websites have to be scrolled left/right and java programs get cut off at the bottom (i.e. Yahoo Games).

I've tried adjusting my resolution, messing with the graphics card, etc with no luck. Here's what I have:

1. Monitor: Dell M782P

2. Display Adapters: NVIDIA GEForce4 MX 420

NVIDIA is up to date and I even tried downloading the driver for the M782P directly from Dell with no luck. My resolution is 800x600 and I can't go lower without other programs being to small/blurry to read.

My hard drive just recently crashed and I didn't start having this problem until I installed my new one (500 GB SeaGate if that helps).

I'd upload a screen shot but I can't. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Its a known fact that if we delete temporary internt files %26amp; clear the history using Internet Options, the history of previously visited sites will be deleted.

I use IE in XP. i used google to search for an article. after searching for that article that visited page appeared in address bar. for example it appeared as:

After this i went to INternet Options dialog box %26amp; deleted all the history, cookies, temp files (even offline files). But when i typed the letter "g" in a new IE window the next day, the same http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en%26amp;q=y... appeared.

If you have Internet Explorer as your browser.

Click Tools at the top of your screen,a menu will drop down, click on Internet Options, then click on the Content tab.

Under Personal information, click on the AutoComplete box.

On the AutoComplete Settings window click the Clear Forms box to delete your current history, or you can uncheck the Forms box to permanently stop the generation of the search history.also under "general" click "delete cookies" and "delete files" them "clear history" put days at "0" then click on "settings" click "view files" click on top of page "edit" then click on "select all" then click on file click on "delete" close window makse sure you click on "apply" and "ok"

If you just want to clear the searches on Yahoo Home Page or any other Yahoo page, double click the search box, this will make a menu drop down with your searches, put your cursor on what you want to delete to highlight it, hit the delete button on your keyboard. If you want to delete everything just hold the delete button down until everything is deleted.

I know and I have some easy to follow steps:

However, if you wish to delete search history saved by the browser and auto-filled when you type on the yahoo website, here is the solution:

To clear your history from Internet Explorer:

1. Go to the "Tools" menu.

2. Select "Internet Options."

3. Click the "General" tab.

4. Click the "Clear History" button. To completely disable the history function, set "Days to keep pages in history" to zero.

To turn off this feature:

%26gt; Open an Internet Explorer page

%26gt; Go to tools

%26gt; Click on Internet options

%26gt; Click the content tab

%26gt; Then click the auto complete button, make sure you uncheck every thing in there.

To clear your history from Mozilla Firefox:

1. Go to the "Tools" menu.

2. Select "Options" %26gt; "Privacy" %26gt; "History."

3. Click on "Clear." To completely disable the history function, set "Remember visited pages for the last X days" to zero ("0").

4. Click "OK" to exit.

This will resolve it all :)

***********

These steps are if you have Yahoo! Toolbar:

If you want to remove all the entries in your search history right now, but you still want Yahoo! Toolbar to remember your searches in the future, do the following:

1. Click the Pencil menu.

2. Select "Clear Recent Searches".

If you want to save your recent searches while you're searching on the Web, but automatically clear the saved searches when you close your browser window, do the following:

1. Click the Pencil menu.

2. Select "Toolbar Options".

3. Select "Auto-clear recent searches when exiting IE" so there's a checkmark in the box next to it.

4. Click "OK".

If you want to disable the feature entirely so none of your searches are saved, do the following:

1. Click the Pencil menu.

2. Select "Toolbar Options".

3. Click "Remember Recent Searches" so there's not a checkmark in the box next to it.

4. Click "OK"

If you aren't having a problem with Internet Explorer 6, then don't create a problem by installing IE7. It does have bugs and glitches, and is a lot different than IE6. You probably have spyware, if you occasionally get error messages. Get SpyBot and Ad-Aware from download.com, both free. Download, install and update them, then run them to remove spyware and stuff called malware. Immunize the computer in SpyBot before you run a check, then use the Fix Selected Problems to remove anything it finds.

Run Ad-Aware the first time in a full system scan, thereafter you can run a Smart Scan, which cuts down the time it takes to run it.

My computer shows that it is running IE 5.1 and 6.0?

In one place it shows 5.1 and in the other it shows 6.0. I'm trying to upgrade to IE 7 but when I do it keeps telling me that my computer wont support it. I've checked and I have all the necessary space etc. My computer is only 2 years old and is running on XP.

When you go to start-run-and type winver - it says I'm on 5.1. When you go to help-about IE explorer-it says 6.0??

I'd really like to upgrade my system - I need to for work asap.

Oh, for gosh sakes, don't update to IE7 with that machine. it would stink.

Visit http://www.microsoft.com and go to the Download section. Then pick the Internet section and get IE6 with SP1. This will work the best.

If you use the Windows Update feature, uncheck the box for IE7, otherwise, you will be uninstalling it again.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Can someone tell me how to fix IE (internet explorer) 7?

I loaded up IE 7 because I was told it was better than IE 6. I'm finding that all my computer does now is lock up and I have to reboot. If there is a way to counteract this, I would like to know. I don't want to go back to 6 but I will if I have to.

How Do I Remove IE Defender?

I was infected with this virus last night. I keep getting these pop-ups in IE that tell me I've been infected and then I am redirected to the IEDefender.com homepage. I have ran AVG Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware, Spyware Doctor, Spybot S%26amp;D, Avast! Anti-Virus, Microsoft Defender, and my system comes up squeaky clean. I'm at wits end and I really don't want to have to resort to HiJackThis. I have Vista and I've tried searching for bDivX.dll and IR9V0_QCX.dll but with no luck. There was nothing in the registry, and I've scanned in Safemode as well. There is a free "removeIEDefender.exe" application that supposedly fixes the problem, but it isn't compatible with Windows Vista. HELP!

It happened to me too...I'm using Vista. This is the problem file:

C:\Windows\System32\

IntelVideoDivX.dll

For me, the "date modified" on this file was exactly the time I got infected.

Just delete this bad file, or copy it to a memory stick and delete the file from the System32 folder. It worked for me and I haven't noticed any problems with any of my other applications (but I'll keep the IntelVideoDivX.dll file on a memory stick just in case).

Good luck.

IEDefender is an extremely dangerous rogue software created by programmers from Russia. It may be installed manually (from www.iedefender.com) or using security holes or. Once the IEDefender is installed, it will start showing fake security messages that your system is in danger and will trick you into buying its full version. IEDefender may steal your secret information (passwords, credit card numbers, PayPal accounts). IEDefenders work may damage Windows registry and cause system slowdowns and crashes. It may be difficult to remove IEDefender manually because it loads on every Windows startup and has an ability to renew itself if you try to remove it.

Is your computer Window Explorer capable? Try resetting computer, and check your computer brand.
Best thing you could do is forget about IE altogether and get Firefox (link in source).

Firefox is a much better, reliable, easy-to-use and nice looking browser that is much better than IE in every way.

If you install IE you'll wish that you had a Time Machine to just go back and sue Microsoft for making such a crappy browser - trust me. IE is well-known for causing unwanted problems and is annoying...

Give it a try and forget about IE :-P.
maybe you can install another web browser, like firefox or opera. firefox and opera is more efficient for web browser than IE, it need less memory resources. and work faster.

Having problems with unexpected keyboard shortcuts in IE 6.Cant figure out how to turn them off.?

I am having trouble with keyboard shortcuts of some sort. Every time I am typing email, messages, anything in a IE 6, I have this problem. The issue is that when I type, I might get 3-4 keystrokes before something happens like a drop down menu will open, the start menu will come up, and my typing is interrupted until I do something about the open window/box. It is annoying because I cant type anything without it happening at least once,

I have noticed that it happens more often after I pause for a few seconds. Does anyone recognize this behavior, or know where the setting for this feature are located? I feel like I have searched every part of the IE options/settings menus and I have not found anything that might change this problem. Can someone help?

Having problems with unexpected keyboard shortcuts in IE 6.Cant figure out how to turn them off.?windows xp sp2

You are probably hitting the ctrl or alt keys as you type. Most shortcuts are associated with one of those keys. Usually you must hit one of those keys and another lettered key at the same time. I do that accidentally once in a while.

Having problems with unexpected keyboard shortcuts in IE 6.Cant figure out how to turn them off.?microsoft sql server internet explorer

I have the same problem at times, and it turned out that I was hitting the Windows and Alt keys instead of the shift key.

The Windows key (with the wavy Windows logo) gives you access to a number of shortcuts, Win-D and Win-M minimizes all windows, Win-L locks the computer (in XP Pro), and of course, the Win key itself brings up the start menu. I also found myself hitting the context menu key, located under the right shift, which brings up a drop down menu for wherever the cursor is at.

This may be your problem, and if it is, all I can suggest is slowing down just a bit and being careful with your bottom-row characters.

Can anyone tell me how to emulate IE in Safari (or Firefox)?

I have a document that was programmed to work only with IE 5.0 and later but I know I've downloaded an add-on to Safari (Mac version) before that allowed me to view documents that were restricted to IE browsers. Can anyone tell me how to emulate IE in Safari (or Firefox)?microsoft downloads internet explorer

its called ie tab get it from addons.mozilla.org

is it the looks u want?

it can be done too...

Step 1: The Theme

The first thing we need is an Internet Explorer Theme. The best one that's currently updated for Firefox 2.0 is the Looks Familiar theme over at addons.mozilla.org:

1. Install the Looks Familiar theme

2. Select to use the theme and restart Firefox for the changes to take effect

Step 2: The Icons

The next thing we need are window icons that look like Internet Explorer's:

1. Download the Firefox Internet Explorer Icons Pack and unzip it to your Firefox program directory (typically C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ for regular Firefox of PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox for Firefox Portable). It will create the necessary directories within the chrome directory and copy the icons to them.

2. Restart Firefox for the changes to take effect

Note: To uninstall the icons, just delete the icons directory within the chrome directory in your Firefox program directory.

Step 3: The Toolbar Layout

The next thing we need to do is to adjust the layout of the buttons on the toolbar to mimic Internet Explorer:

1. Right-Click on the toolbar and select Customize

2. Click Add New Toolbar and call it Address Toolbar

3. Drag the address bar and Go button from their normal position onto the new (blank) Address Toolbar

4. Drag the Search Box off of the toolbar onto the buttons window to remove it

5. Drag the stop button to the left of the refresh button

6. After the Home button, place a seperator, then the Bookmarks button, then the History button, then another seperator, then the print button

You should now have a Toolbar that looks like this:

Firefox toolbars looking like Internet Explorer

Step 4: Window Title

If you wish to complete the look and change the application from Mozilla Firefox to Microsoft Internet Explorer, just follow these steps:

1. Download the Firesomething 1.8 Extension by right-clicking this link and saving it to your desktop

2. Select File and then Open in Firefox and open the file you just saved

3. Install the extension as usual and restart Firefox

4. Go to the Firesomething options window (Tools - Addons - Extensions - Firesomething - Options)

5. Delete all the Vendors, Prefixes and Names (right-click Select All, right-click delete in each field)

6. Enter Microsoft in Vendors and click Add (or enter Mozilla for fun)

7. Enter Internet Explorer in Names and click Add

8. Check off "Use the same generated name in..." and click OK

9. Close the extensions window

Step 5: Miscellaneous Features

Internet Explorer differs from Firefox in the ways that it handles a few things. If you prefer the IE way of doing things, here is how to get Firefox to work the same way.

Favorites Menu

You can have Firefox show a Favorites menu tied to the local favorites by using the Plain Old Favorites extension. You can also hide the bookmarks menu by using the Menu Editor Extension.

Allow Copy/Paste

By default, Firefox doesn't let JavaScript perform copy and paste operations for security reasons. Unfortunately, this makes using some scripts like WYSIWYG editors a bit less convenient. You can enable the clipboard on specific sites to overcome this issue.

IE Tab

You can add the ability to visit specific sites within Firefox using the Internet Explorer browser rendering engine by using the IE Tab extension. Even sites like Windows Update will work.

Default Links

You can even add in the default links from Internet Explorer to fully complete the look if you'd like. Just create bookmarks to each of these links and place them on the Links toolbar in the following order.

* Best of the Web

* Channel Guide

* Customize Links

* Free Hotmail

* Internet Start

* Microsoft

* Windows Media

* Windows Update

* Windows

You can also set www.msn.com as your homepage... and the transformation is complete

read the page it has all links......

Problem with email access: IE "can't display webpage"... blank page on firefox...?

The last three days I haven't been able to access my mail on my home computer. My home page shows I have new mail, but when I click on it it tells me IE can't display the webpage. Firefox just comes up with a blank page. I've done a full virus check - nothing. I would try switching back to "normal" mail from the beta, but also can't access the page to switch back (and can't access other links I've found through answers). I have been able to access mailbox on other computers and in text format, but this is ridiculous! Help me!

Problem with email access: IE "can't display webpage"... blank page on firefox...?windows xp service

In the new Beta Yahoo! Mail, you don鈥檛 do this with your browser anymore. Now, just change your

character encoding setting right in Yahoo! Mail!

Here鈥檚 how:

In the toolbar, click More Actions and select Set Encodings.

From the list that appears, select the encoding that matches the message鈥檚 content.

Note: Only one character encoding set may be viewed at a time. And in this case, changing your

browser鈥檚 encoding setting will not work.

===========================

Or in the old Traditional Yahoo Mail = Select any email where the header information is displayed, but there

is nothing in the

"body" of the message where you would expect to find text, etc.

Move your mouse to the area of the expected "body" of the message and right-click...on

the menu that appears, click on "Encoding"...on the menu that appears, if "Auto Select"

has a check mark, leave it as is...if not click "Auto Select"; then this menu will

disappear...right click again in the "body" to cause the same menu to display again...then

click on "Western European (Windows)"...you should now be able to view the "body" of

all messages that you couldn't view before...obviously, if the problem somehow occurs

again, do the same procedure described above again. I have no idea how or why these

settings get "changed" or "corrupted" after everyday use, but apparently they sometimes

do.

I hear it is much more secure. However, I also hear it has a lot of bugs yet - or could be just different interface and people aren't used to it yet. If you want seamless connecting wait a few weeks before downloading a new package of any kind.
They have tabbed browsing now, just like Mozilla Firefox. Instead of new windows opening in well..new windows, they will come up in a 'tab' which is like a different page in the same window.

and they now have RSS feeds (like firefox) so if you visit a webpage a lot, and they have an RSS feed, you can have it saved into your favorites and insantly see all of the new topics.
I didnt like it. dont like the new look of it so i unloaded it
IE7 is Microsofts way of dealing with the fixes needed for IE6 and also gives you some security tools to prevent people from phishing for your information, it makes IE6 more secure. In some ways it gives you some of the features of their new O/S Vista also known as Longhorn, but not enough to call it such as Vista will be much more secure and better over all.
If you want really cool stuff, get the new Firefox 2.0 next tuesday....
