Problems with settings using IE 7 and Win XP?

I am using Win XP and IE 7 and I have had numerous problems with yahoo mail and have tried and obviously messed up my Internet Options. Now I am still having problems with getting mail, (very slow to load) using DSL and if I do get to an email and delete or forward, it still doesn't go back to mail. My settings are really limiting me now and I need help so that I can have more than one page open on line. Now I get a warning when I close a page. It asks if I want to close all tabs. And no, I don't, but have no choice. Can someone please tell me how to set these again? Also, is there someway I can get better service with yahoo mail? This is driving me boonkers!! Thanks in advance. Jan

I'm only going to be able to offer one suggestion. Get rid of IE7 and go back to IE6 as long as you have Windows XP. All you have to do is click on STart, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and then find Internet Explorer 7. Click on the right side to remove it. After removal, close the control panel and restart the computer. I think you'll find many of your problems will be gone.

Not with Yahoo mail, that's really funky. If you are trying the new Beta mail, you are compounding your problems. That simply doesn't work. Best go back to the old tried and true until Yahoo and Microsoft get their problems worked out. Then maybe they'll fix what's wrong with their programs.

Can I create an internet shortcut for IE and keep Firefox as my default browser?

This is a continuation from a previous question where I wasn't clear. I use Firefox for 99% of my browsing. I do have a few internet shortcuts on my desktop (for work), that I want to open in IE, because their functionality will not work in FF. So can I make a few of my desktop internet shortcuts, open in IE, while keeping FF as my default browser?

Yes, you can place a shortcut on your desktop that will open a specific browser, such as IE, and go to a specific URL.

This page tells how to do it:

http://blog.scoopz.com/2008/02/25/create...

You just create a shortcut to IE, then edit the Properties field to contain the URL you want opened when the shortcut is followed.

Of course you will want to change the name of the shortcut so it indicates the URL that is going to be opened.

Yup, just find internet explorer in the start menu, right click it and create the shortcut.

Firefox 3 is coming soon and it will have fixed all the bugs so eventually you won't have to use IE.

Personally I Hate IE it's just lame, so I either use Firefox or Apple Safari.
Yes you can. Just go to the Windows bar go to my computer Click. Up top in the adress bar copy and paste this in.

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer

press enter go to the iexplore icon and right click then

choose Create Shortcut.

Pow there's a short cut. You can still set Firefox as your main browser and still use the internet icon where ever you want.

Favicon not showing in IE 7?

I have this in the head section.

%26lt;link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" %26gt;

Shows in FF but not IE....

Also...how come sites like yahoo have no link for favicon.ico and they have a favicon showing?

Favicon not showing in IE 7?windows xp home

If you have a favicon.ico file located at the root of your site directory, many browsers will pull it in even if it isn't explicitly linked.

As for IE7, try to add another link element with the rel attribute set to "icon". I'm not sure if that will work, but I've read that it is the recommended practice to use two link elements.

IE has to have the site saved as a favorite before it starts showing the favicon. A trick you could try is to grap the favicon with the mouse and move it around a bit and then refresh the page with a Ctrl+F5.

Yahoo's favicon is loaded by a script I believe. So no meta tag needed directly. Possibly the meta tag with favicon is a document.write statement.

How do you get IE to open to full screen instead of reduced using windows xp?

When I double click on my IE icon it only opens to a reduced screen instead of full screen. I then have to open it myself to full screen. Is there a way to make it open to full screen everytime?

How do you get IE to open to full screen instead of reduced using windows xp?www.microsoft.com

The last closed window in IE determines the size of the next blank window opened in IE.

Open IE, maximize it, open any website, click on File and select exit.

This time it should start maximized.

How do you get IE to open to full screen instead of reduced using windows xp?microsoft windows xp internet explorer

try f11 button on keyboard!!!
Try under the options menu
Usually it will open the same as it was closed. View, Full Screen is one way to go. I always customize my command bar and add Full Screen as an option.
Why are you using IE? You should use Mozilla. Oh... You like popups and virus'.
f11 then if you want to exit push f11

How do I disable Content Advisor on IE?

Someone set a password on Content Advisor on IE, which I do not even use, but now I cannot access certain things anymore, such as World of Warcraft. The password hint is "same" and I know I did not set that. How may I disable this without having the password? I am the sole owner of the computer. Its a laptop, XPS M170, and I think its the latest version of IE. My internet is fine, as I use firefox, and I have not tried to access these functions in over 3 months so I have no clue when the password was set.

No: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2007/10...

... but if you don't have a legal copy of Windows, then you need to fix that.

XP validity checked for IE 7?windows 95 internet explorer

validate your windows, just download it and thats all

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

if you can get microsoft updates already then your windows have already been validated
yes, you do a windows update

you are asked to run the validation tool

if you choose not to then thats it.

if you choose to run it, then after validation it offers ie7 to install

when you first open ie7 it goes to a microsoft site called run once, after that you can then set the home page.

configure ie7 like this

IE7

=======

Over time IE7 seems to set its own (or programs do) tick boxes in the advance tab.

In IE7 Tools %26gt;Internet Options %26gt;Advance Tab

Click Restore advance settings defaults

scroll the listings down to near the bottom then:

Tick empty temp files when browser closes (this empties the cache, which if not empty, will stop you from going online).

Bullet disable phishing filter (optional. Leave it on if you want that type of protection)

Delete Browser History, cookies the whole lot regularly.

Close the browser to set the settings.
it depends on ur OS
